Marketing Mission!

The Building Process

I was assigned a project called "Music Marketing" that requires creating a marketing campaign for a new artist based off of a provided song.

Researching to Understand

Within this project, lots of research and brainstorming is needed in order to have a successful result. First, my group and I did case studies on record labels and their artists. This helped us get a better understanding of strategies for how to build a brand and artist. Also, we explored other promotional music videos to give us an idea of what we were going to include.

Brainstorming and Preparation

After receiving the song that we would base our project around, I immediately played it over and over thinking of the lyrics, beat and flow changes, and tone differences. This helped with developing an idea for how we wanted to illustrate our artist in the campaign. Next, we developed a schedule to make sure we got what needed to be done in time. We also made a storyboard for our music video to stay organized and be more time efficient.

Challenges Within

Of course the project wasn’t perfect. There were many occasions I felt as if we weren’t going to complete it. During class, we spent too much time talking about the music video, not realizing that the presentation was an even bigger part of the project. Also, finding free time for everyone in the group to work on the music video was extremely difficult. Other than those few issues, this project was not only informative, but it was fun!

Next Steps

My group and I have finished everything in the project except for the music video and presentation. We met up and worked on the video for hours, but we still have a few shots to get. Also, we still have to edit it which takes a while. On top of this, finishing up the presentation and rehearsing it to present to the class is also very time consuming. Besides this, I am excited for the final product of this project and to see the reactions of my classmates!
